The village is home to 730 households with nearly 4,000 artisans practising their traditional occupation of thổ cẩm (brocade) weaving using old techniques passed down from generation to generation.

Some 100,000 Chăm people live in the country, but Ninh Thuận alone has around 50,000 of them.

Mỹ Nghiệp Village was founded in the 17th century and is regarded as one of the oldest craft villages in Southeast Asia.
