The Internet of Things refers to internetworking of physical devices, also known as "connected devices" and "smart devices."

An FPT report released Friday said that Binh, head of the Vietnamese IT conglomerate, met with more than 50 leading world businesses in technology, electronic commerce, banking and finance sectors.

They discussed co-operation opportunities in the latest technological advances including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things, the report said.

It further said Binh had private meetings with leaders of the International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) to discuss the corporation’s interest in building and expanding the research model on machine learning and AI.

“WEF is a truly a valuable forum for participating businesses such as FPT. We had meetings with those who have been leading the game in the technology and business sectors. After the forum, FPT will continue to work with these global VIPs,” Binh said.

Bernard Meyerson, Chief information officer at IBM, has promised exchange programmes with FPT in training procedures for machine learning and AI. This cooperation should materialise during the IBM leader’s visit to Viet Nam expected to take place in 2017, the report said.

Binh also had a private meeting with Satya Nadella, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Corporation, to discuss co-operation on AI, digital solutions and cloud computing for businesses in the transportation and energy industries.

FPT representatives also said that Binh was with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in the latter’s meeting with Alibaba Chairman Jack Ma to discuss co-operation on cloud computing and electronic commerce in the near future.

In Viet Nam, FPT is one of the major tech firms making firm progress in foreign markets. The corporation has implemented many large scale projects for customers in the US, Japan, India, Cambodia and Laos. It currently has representations in 20 countries.
