Mekong Delta’s woman named in BBC’s 100 Most Inspirational Women list 2017

Tran Thi Kim Thia, a 59-year-old woman from the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap has been named in the BBC's 100 Women list.

Mrs. Tran Thi Kim Thia is coaching kids in swimming.


Mrs. Thia who is a poor lottery ticket vendor is honored for coaching more than 2,000 kids in swimming for the past 15 years.

She is a typical example who has made outstanding contribution in reducing number of children drowning in the province, said Deputy chairman of the People’s Committee of Hung Thanh Ward in Thap Muoi District.

BBC 100 Women list was started in 2013, which focuses on 100 most influential women in various fields. 

The women in BBC's list are those who tackle some of the biggest problems women in general face around the world. 

Every year BBC reveals the list of 100 inspirational and innovative women.
