The fire broke out in the factory’s warehouse, where thousands of tons of material were stored. It took hundreds of workers and fire-fighting equipment to control the blaze.

Nguyễn Tiến Dũng, deputy chairman of Móng Cái City’s People’s Committee, said the firefighting force had to excavate to prevent the fire from spreading to other areas, adding the fire was put out by 5.30am. The factory is registered under Texhong-Ngân Long Science and Technology Co. Ltd of Hong Kong, covering 40ha in the Hải Yến Industrial Park.

Fire inspection

The Fire Fighting, Prevention and Rescue Police Department will conduct a general inspection and review on fire prevention and fighting of high buildings, industrial parks, commercial and entertainment centres.

This was announced by the department’s representative during a meeting with the Ministry of Public Security on firefighting and prevention in future.

Investors and project management boards were also required to report on firefighting and prevention plans in their construction design.

Minister Bùi Văn Thành asked units to further raise public awareness on firefighting and prevention.

The inspection teams will begin random checks in provinces from April 10 to May 10.
