The event was held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangladesh ahead of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the passing of President Hồ Chí Minh, attracting Bangladeshi and Vietnamese politicians, researchers, translators, artists, writers and students.

The book Tiểu Sử Hồ Chí Minh (Biography of Hồ Chí Minh) was translated from English to Bengali by journalist Abdul Mozid.

After the success of the book President Hồ and his Testament in 2017, the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangladesh coordinated with the Nawab Salimullah Institute to translate the book Biography of Hồ Chí Minh into Bengali to meet the increasing demand of Bangladeshi readers to learn about the life and work of President Hồ Chí Minh.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh Trần Văn Khoa thanked Bangladeshi people for their interest in and love for Việt Nam and President Hồ Chí Minh. He said that the two countries shared a lot in culture and history, especially in the struggle for national liberation.

Khoa said: “The people-to-people exchange activities which include the translation of books about President Hồ Chí Minh into Bengali has helped to improve mutual understanding and strengthen the friendship between our two countries.”

Ambassador Khoa granted a certificate from Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Phạm Bình Minh to the Nawab Salimullah Institute and its director Muhammad Abdul Jabba for their active efforts in increasing the friendship between the two countries’ people.

Journalist and translator Mozid said he admired the simple life of the President and also learned from his journalistic style during the translation process.

President Hồ Chí Minh was not only a renowned leader who helped lead the country to independence but also a passionate journalist.

He was co-founder and Editor-in-chief of the newspaper Le Paria (Pariah) in the early 1920s and also contributed to L’Humanité (Humanity) newspaper.

Mozid said he wanted Bangladeshi readers to get a better understanding about the life and career of President Hồ Chí Minh and it was also the biggest motivation for him to translate the book.

President Hồ Chí Minh (1890-1969) is well-known as a humanist and intellectual – a poet, a journalist and a teacher. He led the country to success in the struggle for national independence.
