Singer Phạm Thu Hà is always trying to break musical boundaries, and her latest offering does just that, with the music video Vũ Điệu Bình Minh (The Dance of Sunrise) featuring her soprano voice accompanied by dance music.

A production between the singer and composer and music producer Võ Thiện Thanh, the video debuted in the monthly music programme Bài Hát Tôi Yêu (The Song I Love) of Việt Nam Television on Saturday. The song is a single from her album Classic Meets Dance, scheduled for relapse next year.

The album is the second project of the singer and the HCM City-based producer after their album Classic Meets Chillout in 2012, which won the title ‘Album of the Year’ at Việt Nam’s Devotion Music Awards the same year.

Thanh has been a hugely influential figure in the Hanoian singer’s path as one of few pioneering pop-opera singers in Việt Nam.

Speaking at the launch of Vũ Điệu Bình Minh in Hà Nội recently, Thanh said he decided to combine electronic music and orchestra because “this combination can activate effectively the imagination of listeners, especially when they see the impressive and beautiful scenes of the video.”

The video was filmed on Tà Xùa – a high mountain range between the northern provinces of Sơn La and Yên Bái, with a picturesque landscape enhanced by a sea of clouds.

“The whole team was working very, very hard during the filming process on Tà Xùa, which was interrupted by bad weather. We were blocked by floods, which destroyed most of the road leading to the filming spot. We had to rely on the assistance of local people who used their ropes to help us access the place,” singer Hà revealed.

Following the launch of Vũ Điệu Bình Minh, Hà will have a concert on Thursday night at the Hà Nội’s St Joseph Cathedral, where she will perform several classic songs, including Ave MariaSilent NightOh Holy Night and Joy to the World.

Alongside her debut album Classic Meets Chillout and the soon-to-be-launched Classic Meets Dance, Hà has also released albums such as Classic Meets PopClassic Meets Jazz and the vinyl LP Đường Em Đi (Your Road) featuring songs by Phạm Duy.
