HCMC Exhibition House


HCMC Exhibition House: 92 Le Thanh Ton Street, District 1

More than 92 paintings by 19 artists of HCMC-based 5P Artist Club will be on display at a painting exhibition titled “A Moment of Spring” at the HCMC Exhibition in District 1 starting Sunday.

Inspired from fact-find trips made by the artists to famous tourist destinations throughout the country, the paintings cover a wide spectrum of subjects including stunning countryside landscapes, daily market life, and spring landscapes with peach or apricot blossoms.

The exhibition is an annual activity of the 5P Artist Club to usher in the bustling atmosphere of the forthcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday and nurture the love for the country among people.

Bitexco Financial Tower: 2 Hai Trieu Street, District 1

French expert Francois Serre, president of Prenez du relief Association and director of the 3D short movies festival, will come to HCMC to talk with art-lovers and young people at a workshop on virtual reality in the field of audiovisual and creative arts at 5 p.m. this Saturday at Nest by AIA on level 2 of the Bitexco Financial Tower, the tallest building in downtown HCMC.

The workshop is an opportunity for those working in the fields of marketing, hi-tech and creative arts to gain an insight into virtual reality, a new imaging technology that can be applied into the creation of artworks.

Entrance to the workshop is free. Due to limited seats, those interested are advised to register at www. in advance .

The Crescent: Phu My Hung urban area, District 7

The Lawrence S. Ting 2018 charity walk will make a comeback in its 13th edition at The Crescent in Phu My Hung urban area in HCMC’s District 7 this Saturday, January 20.

All proceeds from the charity walk will be donated to support foundations for the poor in districts 7, 8, Nha Be and Binh Chanh to welcome the Lunar New Year 2018, and assist a charity foundation of the HCMC Television and a foundation to nurture sport talent of the HCMC Department of Culture and Sports.

Held for the first time in 2006, the Lawrence S. Ting charity walk has become an annual event by Phu My Hung Corp. and authorities of districts 7, 8, Nha Be and Binh Chanh to promote the sport spirit among the community and give a helping hand to people in need.

Participants who donate a minimum of VND120,000 will receive free T-shirts, drinks and lucky draw tickets to win some interesting prizes like TV sets and microwave stoves.

CGV Hung Vuong Plaza: 126 Hung Vuong Street, District 5

Those keen on the action thriller movie genre should go watching “The Commuter” movie (or Hanh khach bi an in Vietnamese), directed by Spanish film director and producer Jaume Collet-Serra.

The movie will be screened at 3:30 p.m., 5:50 p.m. and 8:10 p.m. this Saturday at CGV Hung Vuong on the seventh floor of the Parkson Hung Vuong Plaza.

The 105-minute movie tells a story about an insurance salesman who is unwittingly caught up in a criminal conspiracy that carries life and death stakes for himself and his fellow passengers on a train from home to work.

The movie will have Vietnamese subtitle. Children under 18 years old are disallowed to watch the movie.
